ACTIVITY LEVEL: LIGHT-MODERATE
The Transfagarasan Highway is open for driving only from July to October. Outside this period, the tour runs using the cable car instead of driving (if the weather allows), to climb to the highest point of the highway where you can see Balea Lake and The Ice Hotel (January-March).
Comfortable clothing and walking shoes according to season are recommended, as well as sun hats, umbrellas and raincoats, so you're all covered - the weather can change a lot in the mountains. If you won't need them eventually, you can leave them in the van. Some attractions may not be suitable for people with limited mobility due to climbing stairs and walking on inclined cobbled streets.
If any attractions are closed on your chosen dates, the itinerary will be adjusted by reordering visits or offering suitable alternatives. Final timings may also vary depending on weather, season, or local traffic (especially on weekends and public holidays when it gets busier). We will confirm the final schedule before the start of your tour.
Tour options: This experience runs either as a shared small group (usually up to 7-14 people), or can be booked privately for groups of any size. If you’re a tour agent or travelling as part of a larger group, let us know and we’ll customise the experience accordingly.

FAQs
All tours are priced from a base rate that applies for a minimum of 2 people/booking. Final pricing may vary depending on the number of travellers, preferred level of customization, and any optional add-ons. Romanian cuisine has a diverse range of dishes, some being only plant-based, and the food tasting will usually contain a sample of all, so there is diversity for all tastes and needs. For full meals organised by us, please let us know during the booking process of any requirements to make sure the menu is adapted to your dietary conditions.
While backpacks and small bags are no problem during day-trips, we ask you to leave your larger items stored at your accommodation or at luggage-storage spots in town. For multi-day tours, of course your luggage will travel with you as we move from town to town.
Tips for your guide and driver are not included. If you loved the tour, our guides and drivers always appreciate recognition for a well-done job! The amount is entirely a personal preference, but 10-20 Euros/GBP per day can be used as a guideline.
